Does software really make life easier? Well for an Essex based plumbing company, well designed software has saved hours of work per week and simplified life.
How did it do that?
The company had many staff out on site at clients and so that the office staff could see at a glance where a staff member would be on any day without having to log onto the company database, several whiteboards were manually updated weekly to show staff locations. Office staff were wasting time rubbing out last week, moving this week and then entering entering next week to show 2 weeks of appointments. What a waste of time! The information was already in the company database. Then if a late booking came in someone had to go and update the board.
A company that DCL partners with asked them if they could make it easier. Well with a Smart TV that has a web browser built in, all that was needed was a web page that showed the current week and next week based on appointments in the company database. Now the most difficult job the office staff have is switching a TV on, a skill which we have been informed was mastered everyone in the office before DCL got involved. Also when a late appointment comes in, because the TV is showing live data, it automatically is updated within a minute of the appointment being made.
The moral of the story is that repetitive jobs can often be ended just by some lateral thinking and some clever software, both of which DCL are experienced experts at.
